NSRI “Link Festival”

11-link-festival-image-01This is great fun for contestants and spectators alike so come and have a good laugh at the antics! This is a major fundraising event for the NSRI and they hope to top their last year’s target of R40 000 - all to be able to save lives at sea! 

Friday 25 November

‘Miss Links’ Competition at the Gordon’s Bay Yacht Club.

 For lovely, charming girls, this is an opportunity to support the NSRI as their ambassador at events and to open doors to the glamorous world of modelling.  There will be two categories – bikini and evening dress at this glamorous event that will include spectacular masks. The winner will receive generous prizes. An auction of donated prizes will also be held at this event. Saturday 26 November

Morning:

“Dingy Race” – The NSRI, Gordon’s Bay Yacht Club and the Navy challenge each other in this seriously stiff competition, reminiscent of the Oxford / Cambridge race! STRICKLY NO CHEATING IS ALLOWED!

Afternoon:

“Rubber Duck Racing” – Old Harbour – A chance for anyone with their own rubber duck (not the yellow bath-time type!) also to race. Note rubber ducks should be motorised and skipper’s licenses are required! Entry R50 Contact Johan van Rooyen – 079 874 0761

“Anything that Floats” – Organised by the Gordon’s Bay Yacht Club for anyone with imagination and a bit of courage (Dutch courage is not recommended!) Get businesses to sponsor your a ‘water craft creation’ with their branding but no motors allowed. ‘Crew’ must be able swimmers and MUST wear life jackets!  Note: Originality will be favoured and no skipper’s license is required! R50 entry per ‘boat’ 

Sunday 27 November

“Around the Cans” Sailing – This fun Gordon’s Bay Yacht Club event is open to anyone with a yacht! (‘Anything that floats’ boats no not qualify!) 

“Amazing Race” – An opportunity for ‘grounded’ folks to have some fun: Boats will be available to ferry contestants back and forth in a treasure hunt between the two marinas. Contestants should wear any marine inspired outfit (There are prizes for the ‘most inspired’!) R100 per team of 4 - contact Yolande sms 079 877 7139
